THE BACK STORY
I’ve had the opportunity to lead women’s leadership groups in person over the last 10 years: Propel Women, Develop Her, and Celebration’s Women Leadership Network. In each of these settings, a key component was sharing stories of success, failure, and overcoming.

I’ve heard from women in the groups that they were helped, encouraged, and better equipped to lead through hearing the stories and experiences of other women in leadership.

The in-person groups provided a place for community, connection, support, and conversations about topics that matter to women in leadership in all the arenas – business, art, non-profits, ministry, education, and government.

I hope that CONVERSATIONS FROM THE ARENA will provide the same kind of experience and allow more people to share in the experience.

Join me and my guest each week as we talk about how to get off the sidelines and into the arena by learning from those who are doing it!

About the Name

The name of this video cast was inspired by the famous Theodore Roosevelt speech, Man in the Arena.

Here is an excerpt:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
