Giving back is what I call ministry and it has always been part of my life.
My Grandmother modeled how to be a working woman who integrated work, ministry, and family before it was the acceptable thing to do. She knew how to #Leanin 50 years ago! As a kid, my Grandma would bring me along to visit nursing homes, shut-ins (elderly people unable to leave their homes) and funeral homes to comfort those who lost loved ones. I learned early what a great experience it is to make a difference in the lives of hurting people. You can read more her in my blog article, French Fry Faith: My Grandmother’s Legacy.
I’ve followed her lead in involving my kids in service with me and will continue the practice with my grandsons when they are old enough! 😉
